At Empower College Prep (ECP), the K-12 tuition-free public charter school preparing every scholar for college and career, we prioritize our relationships between school and home. Our partnerships with ECP parents not only empower our scholars, they help the entire family.
Parents are Always Welcome Here!
From the Fall Festival that kicks off each school year to our twice-yearly expos celebrating the accomplishments of our scholars, parents are always welcome here!
“We love Empower! From day one, we have felt incredibly supported and welcomed by the staff. This school is truly family-centered. Communication with the staff is always timely and stellar. We appreciate the energy and positivity we experience with all our interactions.”
Each month teachers select a student who has demonstrated our core values to become a member of our Star Wolf Pack. Families are invited to join the celebration which includes an awards ceremony and breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
“Families love joining us to eat breakfast together and have conversations that honor their child.”
Minette Klenner, Assistant Principal K-8
Parents are also invited to
- Volunteer in the classroom
- Cheer on our sports teams
- Applaud our student performers
- Assist with student projects like Market Day
At Market Day our high school students who are taking the Entrepreneurship/Marketing classes showcase what they’ve learned by setting up a pop-up shop for the day. Parents participate by investing in their child’s business and helping them set up their booths and show their wares.
“Parents love it because they get to work alongside their child and help them bring their visions to life as they learn about income, expenses, return on investment, and the concept of value creation.”
Shaylan Richardson, Marketing & Financial Literacy Instructor | Electives Team Lead
Student Government Advisor | Student Empowerment Coordinator
Parents Learn Here, Too
An Empower College Prep education includes helpful support systems that provide resources for the family.
Because college is the ultimate goal, we work with parents to prepare for their child’s future in college with:
- College Information Sessions
- FAFSA Information Nights & Personalized Support
- Individual Parent Meetings during Senior Conferences
- Community Partnerships
ECP partners with Aliento which provides resources and guidance for families with mixed-status or immigrant backgrounds.
“Through these partnerships, I’ve seen students become more accountable, and parents feel like true teammates in the process. The collaboration has made a real difference in keeping students on track with their college and FAFSA goals.”
Neyveth Duarte, Senior Career and College Counselor
Our social supports are extensive. This month we launched Rezilient Kidz, a 13-week program that equips parents to navigate the sometimes tumultuous but critically important parenting journey and associated challenges they may face.
“As school social workers we step into that gap with a unique mix of advocacy, resources, and care. Our work goes far beyond the school walls, extending into homes, community agencies, and most importantly, to our families. Our goal is to restore hope in our families and show them they have advocates who will walk through difficult seasons of life with them.”
Natalina Mariscal, LMSW, ECP Director of Student Social Services
Empower continues to enroll students for the 2025-2026 school year. Transfer now and join our caring community of families.
