When Empower College Prep (ECP) was founded in 2012 as a tuition-free, values-based school 61 students attended classes in a church basement. Today the learning space for the more than 1000 Preschool -12th grade scholars is a 5-acre state-of-the art campus right off the Black Canyon Freeway.

The ECP campus includes 7 buildings with classrooms for Preschool through high school.

ECP’s elementary and middle school feature bright, open spaces that encourage students to thrive as they learn. In addition to our academic classrooms, the high school has two chemistry labs and two biology labs for our 12 science classes, 5 of which may generate college credit.
Our facilities for visual and performing arts include an 800 square foot black box theater, the Pakis Playhouse, for students interested in exploring the arts in a more intimate setting. Larger performances are held in the school’s amphitheater or gymnasium stage. Our art classrooms, music classrooms, and flex spaces provide rich opportunities for students to develop, display and demonstrate their creative talents!
The Ark of Learning preschool is housed in Weezie’s Place, the southernmost building on our campus, so the entire family can go to school at the same location. Our free transportation makes ECP easily accessible to families along the Camelback/I-17 corridor.
Outdoor Space and Sports Fields
ECP’s exterior space was designed to minimize noise and create a homey, welcoming environment — an oasis in the middle of the desert. All our students have access to outdoor space where they play and practice basketball, volleyball, soccer, and football. Older students compete competitively with other schools here at our facilities.
Our sports facilities include a weight room for our high school athletes as well as basketball and volleyball courts that are also used for wrestling meets on the weekends. There’s also a playground for our youngest scholars.
As a college preparatory school, ECP’s facilities inspire all students to envision themselves attending a university. We’ve named our classrooms after some of the best known colleges and universities in the country. Our expansive list of course offerings include 15 AP courses and dual enrollment classes for our high school scholars. College advising begins in 9th Grade but the introduction to the journey to higher education starts on the first day of Kindergarten.
