At ECP We Support Our Families

By May 21, 2025No Comments3 min read

According to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, more than 50 years of research reveals that student outcomes improve when schools offer social supports to families. Empower College Prep (ECP), the values-based, tuition-free K-12 charter school in central Phoenix partners with families to ensure scholars feel known and cared for.

Why It Matters

When schools address the needs of a student’s family, academic success increases, attendance is more consistent, and student engagement improves.

“[At Empower College Prep] not only do they support the kids, they help to support and encourage parents as well in addition to having resources to help them.” – Parent review, niche.com

Empower College Prep helps the families of scholars thrive through

“I’m not just their teacher, I’m someone who genuinely cares about their success, both inside and outside the classroom.”

Jessy Aceituno, ES Math

The ECP Student Social Services team supports the families of scholars in order to remove any barriers to academic success by providing services through site-based and community-based partnerships

“We provide additional resources and connections to community-based organizations that will provide resources like food, clothing, and housing – things that support the overall health and success of a student and their family.” – Natalina Mariscal, LMSW, ECP Director of Student Social Services

Supporting the Journey All the Way to College

ECP sets a goal of every graduate attending college and helps each family navigate the process through personalized college counseling. Class of 2025 valedictorian, Eliseo Gomez, did not think he could attend college because of the financial burden it would cause his family.

Empower College Prep Senior Career and College Counselor, Neyveth Duarte works with scholars throughout their high school career to find grants and scholarships that enable them to go to college.

Eliseo was named ECP’s first Dorrance Scholar, and awarded a full scholarship to Northern Arizona University along with the opportunity to study abroad in France and Italy, totaling more than $100,000!

We’re enrolling for the 2025-2026 school year. Schedule a personalized tour Monday-Friday, day or evening or join us for an Enrollment Pancake Breakfast and Tour the 2nd Saturday of every month to meet the dedicated teachers and staff who are supporting our scholars and families every step of the way!
