HIGH SCHOOL
The future is bright
In addition to receiving a high school diploma, students graduate with an acceptance letter to a university, a scholarship to help with college costs, and a plan of study to make a positive impact in the world.
At ECP, 90% of graduates go to colleges and universities earning more than $2 million in scholarships and aid.
Since 2012, our scholars have scored in the top 3% of all Arizona schools. We’ve helped send first-generation college students to universities throughout the state and country at a rate 20% higher than the state and national average.
Throughout high school, our scholars can take Advanced Placement (AP) or dual enrollment courses in their areas of interest, complete 50 hours of community service, and participate in internships related to their career goals. We believe in empowering our scholars with the tools and opportunities to achieve their dreams.
At Empower College Prep, we prepare our scholars for a successful future beyond high school. In addition to receiving a high school diploma, our scholars graduate with an acceptance letter to a university, a scholarship to help with college costs, and a plan of study to make a positive impact in the world.

Community Engagement + Advisory
We’re passionate about equipping our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life. We prioritize real-world experiences through internships, connecting classroom learning to future careers. Our commitment extends beyond the school community, empowering students to make a positive impact in the wider community through volunteering. We also understand the importance of a strong support network, which is why we provide mentors and advisors who guide students along their journey. By emphasizing these aspects, we ensure our students are well-prepared to shape the lives they aspire to lead.
Connecting Classroom Learning With Professional Goals
We understand the importance of connecting classroom learning with future professional goals. That’s why our students have the chance to engage in a semester-long internship at a local business in Phoenix to gain practical experience and valuable networking opportunities during their Junior or Senior year. This experience allows them to explore different career paths, gain practical knowledge, and develop essential skills required to tackle future challenges. These internships not only prepare scholars for college but also help them to succeed in their future careers.
Make A Positive Impact In Their Community And Beyond
Starting in 9th grade, Empower College Prep scholars are expected to complete 50 hours of community service annually. This service not only helps them identify their personal interests, but also cultivates a desire to make a positive impact in their community and beyond. Scholars can fulfill their service requirements through classroom projects, school-wide service events, and monthly weekend service projects. By actively engaging with their community, scholars develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them, preparing them for success in college and beyond.
We help you see it…so you can be it
Our scholars are equipped with the habits and values necessary to succeed in college and beyond. Through our advisory classes, scholars learn different habits for success based on their current grade level.
Freshmen learn essential skills such as note-taking, organization, reading, writing, and study skills, setting the foundation for success in their high school courses. Juniors, on the other hand, receive guidance on college research, SAT preparation, and how to become competitive applicants for their desired schools.
We take a personalized approach to mentorship, assigning each scholar a staff mentor who meets with them one-on-one for at least 15 minutes a week. Our mentors help scholars set goals and navigate any challenges they may face throughout their high school journey. At Empower College Prep, we are dedicated to setting our scholars up for success both in and out of the classroom.
Our scholars graduate with a sense of self, a sense of purpose, ready for college, ready for life, and ready to change the world!

What is the curriculum?
At Empower College Prep, we believe in setting our scholars up for success by establishing a long-term plan and vision of mastery for our elementary and high schools. Our curriculum is carefully aligned with Arizona’s Career and College Readiness standards, the Next Generation Science Standards, and pre-advanced placement courses for Social Studies.
We are committed to empowering our teachers and providing them with the resources they need to facilitate mastery and real-world application of knowledge and skills outlined in our long-term plan. Our teachers are encouraged to use a range of resources, including those purchased by the school, and to create resources that align with our scholars’ gifts, interests, and passions. In K-8 our reading curriculum is HMH’s Wonders and StudySync and for math we use Eureka Math. We use Mystery Science for K-5 science, Amplify for 6-8 science, and SAVVAS or Discovery for social studies. We also use aimsweb+, IXL, Khan Academy, Lexia, and many other platforms, apps, and resources to support scholars.
By aligning our curriculum with rigorous standards and empowering our teachers, we are confident that our scholars will be prepared for success in college and beyond. We strive to create a culture of excellence where all our scholars can thrive and reach their full potential.
We believe in providing access to college-level coursework during high school. This not only prepares our scholars for success in college but also helps families save on tuition costs. To graduate, scholars are encouraged to excel in four Advanced Placement (AP) or dual enrollment classes in their desired area of study.
Our instruction emphasizes critical thinking and perseverance, essential for college success. Scholars are enrolled in a rigorous curriculum that aligns with Arizona’s Career and College Readiness standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Advanced Placement courses in Social Studies. Our curriculum also includes Summit Learning, developed with Stanford University and used at a high-performing charter network in California. It focuses on 36 critical thinking skills across content areas.

To ensure a smooth start to the day, scholars may arrive as early as 7:25 AM. We provide a safe and supervised environment for our students before classes begin. Our schedule allows for a well-rounded education, with ample time for academics, extracurricular activities, and socialization. We believe that a consistent and predictable routine helps our students thrive and prepares them for success in the future.

What events do the kids get to participate in?
At Empower College Prep, we hold Scholar Expo Nights twice a year, providing a platform for our classes and clubs to showcase their work to families and the community. The nights include a theme across the entire campus and music performances.
At the end of each year, we organize university trips for our scholars, giving them the chance to explore and learn about different colleges and universities. We believe that these activities help to foster a well-rounded education and prepare our students for a successful future.
Additionally, our facilities include a gym where many of our sports teams host home games that are open to the school community. We also have a robotics club that competes throughout the city.
How can parents and families get involved?
At Empower College Prep, we believe that parent involvement is critical to the success of our scholars. We offer a variety of opportunities for parents to get involved such as volunteering, attending expo nights and performances, participating in Empower Families Meetings, providing office support and being an active volunteer in our school community. We strongly encourage parents to volunteer at least 50 hours each school year in support of our school, its mission, and its activities.
Additionally, we host monthly parent workshops, providing a platform for parents to engage with each other and learn more about how they can support their child’s academic journey. These workshops cover a range of topics such as college readiness, financial aid, and academic success strategies.
We understand that parents lead busy lives and may not have a lot of free time to give. Therefore, we offer flexible volunteering opportunities and will work with parents to find roles that best fit their schedules and interests. We believe that when parents and schools work together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment for our scholars to thrive.
