Let's Get Active!
We provide a diverse range of co-curricular/elective activities that go beyond the traditional core subjects during the school day. Scholars in K-5 attend art, music, PE, and technology to build foundational skills and understanding in these areas. In 6-8th grade, scholars can elect two of these courses to attend as part of building their gifts and interests.
Additionally, we offer after-school sports and clubs, as well as tutoring and homework help to ensure our scholars have the support they need to succeed academically and personally.
The Digital Age
Technology Class
Scholars also participate in technology classes where they begin with the basics of things like Google Docs and sheets as well as typing. They dive more deeply into other skills such as coding and 3-D printing. Technology class offers a great opportunity for scholars to connect their 21st-century learning to 21st-century technological skills.
Health + Wellness
Sports + P.E.
Scholars learn the foundations of physical activity and wellness to build a lifelong healthy lifestyle in PE. They also learn the basics of many sports to prepare them for competitive sports in middle school and high school. They build hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and trust. 6th-8th graders can also tryout for various competitive, seasonal sports including soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Go wolves!
THE ARTS
Music + Art
Empower scholars will learn the basics of both music and movement. They will study the various genres of music and music history. In art, scholars will build skills related to drawing, painting, and the use of other media to express themselves. They will also develop an understanding of the various people who influenced artistic styles.
Tutoring + Clubs
After School Programs
Many scholars extend their day by participating in one of the many after-school clubs for academics or fun. After-school programs range from homework help to math tutoring to student government. They typically last until 4:15 PM.

We are committed to empowering our teachers and providing them with the resources they need to facilitate mastery and real-world application of knowledge and skills outlined in our long-term plan. Our teachers are encouraged to use a range of resources, including those purchased by the school, and to create resources that align with our scholars’ gifts, interests, and passions. In K-8 our reading curriculum is HMH’s Wonders and StudySync and for math we use Eureka Math. We use Mystery Science for K-5 science, Amplify for 6-8 science, and SAVVAS or Discovery for social studies. We also use aimsweb+, IXL, Khan Academy, Lexia, and many other platforms, apps, and resources to support scholars.
By aligning our curriculum with rigorous standards and empowering our teachers, we are confident that our scholars will be prepared for success in college and beyond. We strive to create a culture of excellence where all our scholars can thrive and reach their full potential.
We believe in providing access to college-level coursework during high school. This not only prepares our scholars for success in college but also helps families save on tuition costs. To graduate, scholars are encouraged to excel in four Advanced Placement (AP) or dual enrollment classes in their desired area of study.
Our instruction emphasizes critical thinking and perseverance, essential for college success. Scholars are enrolled in a rigorous curriculum that aligns with Arizona’s Career and College Readiness standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and Advanced Placement courses in Social Studies. What events do the kids get to participate in?
At Empower College Prep, we hold Scholar Expo Nights twice a year, providing a platform for our classes and clubs to showcase their work to families and the community. The nights include a theme across the entire campus and music performances.
At the end of each year, we organize university trips for our scholars, giving them the chance to explore and learn about different colleges and universities. We believe that these activities help to foster a well-rounded education and prepare our students for a successful future.
Additionally, our facilities include a gym where many of our sports teams host home games that are open to the school community. We also have a robotics club that competes throughout the city.
How can parents and families get involved?
At Empower College Prep, we believe that parent involvement is critical to the success of our scholars. We offer a variety of opportunities for parents to get involved such as volunteering, attending expo nights and performances, participating in Empower Families Meetings, providing office support and being an active volunteer in our school community. We strongly encourage parents to volunteer at least 50 hours each school year in support of our school, its mission, and its activities.
Additionally, we host monthly parent workshops, providing a platform for parents to engage with each other and learn more about how they can support their child’s academic journey. These workshops cover a range of topics such as college readiness, financial aid, and academic success strategies.
We understand that parents lead busy lives and may not have a lot of free time to give. Therefore, we offer flexible volunteering opportunities and will work with parents to find roles that best fit their schedules and interests. We believe that when parents and schools work together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment for our scholars to thrive.
