A Tribute to Rebekah

By August 14, 2025No Comments2 min read

Rebekah Baptiste was a bright light who was taken from us far too soon. Our hearts ache at the senselessness of this loss, yet we choose to remember not the way Rebekah left us, but the way she lived—the way she sparkled, loved without condition, and made the world brighter simply by being in it.

Rebecca is standing in front of a wall at Empower with her arms flung in the air and a huge smile.

Rebekah filled every space with laughter, curiosity, and kindness. Her smile was big and bright. In her short time with us, she touched countless hearts with a joy and warmth that words can barely capture. Her friends describe her as compassionate, always the first one to reach out when a friend was upset. She told great stories, was loyal and caring, and made her friends laugh and smile.

At school, Rebekah was an excellent student. She completed high-quality work, participated in class, and offered to help peers. Rebekah was a leader on campus. You could find her at the front of her class’s lines in the hallways or as the trusted teacher’s helper in class. She was chosen more than once for Star Wolfpack (student of the month), which is recognition for outstanding demonstration of our core values.

Rebekah didn’t complain, didn’t say negative things, was friendly and kind to all people and animals, and truly embodied the type of person most of us aspire to be our whole lives. She undeniably loved her younger brothers and protected them fiercely. Though her time here was far too short, Rebekah’s spirit remains with us—in every act of kindness we share, in every burst of laughter, in every moment we choose love over hate. We will carry your memory forward, dear Rebekah, as a reminder to cherish each other, to protect the vulnerable, and to never take a single day for granted. You are deeply loved, profoundly missed, and forever in our hearts.
